"poor lady..... ":sonia , rahul insults president Draupadi Murmu, PM slams, tribal insult

On January 31st, following the submission of the Economic Survey in Parliament, remarks by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi regarding President Droupadi Murmu's speech ignited a significant political confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party.

Sonia Gandhi reportedly commented, "False promises, poor thing, she must be getting very tired by the end," while Rahul Gandhi allegedly remarked, "Boring, no comments, she was repeating the same thing again and again." These statements were perceived by BJP leaders as deliberate insults to the President, who holds the highest constitutional position in India.

In response, the Congress party issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter), clarifying that Sonia Gandhi's remarks were expressions of concern and not intended to disrespect the President. The statement emphasized her full respect for President Murmu and accused the BJP of twisting her words to misrepresent the intent.

This incident has led to a polarized response on social media. Some users criticize Sonia and Rahul Gandhi's comments as arrogant, while others argue that the BJP is exaggerating the issue to divert public attention toward controversial topics.

This is not the first instance of tension between the two parties concerning interactions with President Murmu. In November 2024, BJP leader Amit Malviya accused Rahul Gandhi of not greeting the President at a Constitution Day event, labeling it as evidence of arrogance and disrespect towards a leader from the tribal community.

The ongoing exchanges highlight the deepening political divide and the sensitivity surrounding respect for constitutional offices in India.
